Over the years we've sold lots of horses and many of their "new humans" stay in touch and give us much appreciated updates on their family and horses. Nowdays I get a bigger kick out of my clients successes than I do my own.........
Kate Deakin -
Kate and Chazar Western Showgirl's relationship keeps going from strength to strength......Kate has now finished her University degree and is now planning a show career for Girlie. Although they won't be attending the PHPA Inc Championships, Mum has been recruited to go and take heaps of photos !!

Leanne & Rosie Fenech......... Leanne has been coming to the stud since high school ! Originally Leanne came because she was doing an Agricultural course at school and needed "hands on" experience. Falling in love with Arabians was an occupational hassard ! Leanne went on to complete her Equine Science Dp through UQ Gatton campus and is now married and has two Chazar horses ....... she's like the daughter I never had.
Over the years Leanne has been my main helper with the horses, and in 2007 she presented us with our "adopted " grand daughter .... Rosemary Jane, who is already learning to ride on "Blaze the wonder rocking horse " ! Rosie has taken a real shine to one of our Overo Quarabs "Blue Ice", so watch out Pinto ring in the future !
Dec '08- Rosie has now started swimming lessons, fortunately she hasn't taken Blaze into the pool....... yet !
July 2009 - Rosie turns two in September, shown here with "Neddy" the sleepy pony & "Blaze the wonder horse" . If only we could show you all video of Rosie "training" Blaze !!!!

Judith Jepson of South Australia has two Chazar horses, which she regularily trail rides over some pretty amazing country. Some of Judith's trail rides make endurance riding look easy !!!! Here's the lastest report on her recent purchase Chazar Shonniaha {Chazar Kaliedoscope x Chazar Banyama} .

June 08-
Hi Maz ,
Just a quick write up to let you know how we are going. I am sending some pictures of Shonie on our Flinders trip. I was not going to take her, but at the last moment I got the courage to do so. I had only ridden her twice with the trail rider group, but each trip she behaved beautifully. I had practiced loading her on the float with the new addition in the front ( a board behind the chest rail ) the day before. Thus I could pack in 4 bales of hay, buckets and hard feed, enough for the 7 days outback trip. Everything had to be taken - no shops up there ! She floated beautifully and coped with the 10 hours journey !
I took books for me to read incase her back or knee played up. She was the only horse not shod and probably the least experienced. She excelled. She tacked this very hard terrain like a veteran - her little bare hooves giving her the ability to handle this flinty stony ground. She never slipped or stumbled. She managed the daily treks of 4-7hours. Her hooves never chipped or flaked. Initially she was stiff on day 2 and 3 for the first few minutes, but then her muscles loosen up and she was fine. She coped with goats, sheep and minus 1 nights. She was the only horse to put on weight ! The only time I think she was upset was when we had to cross some old wire or go through a cocky gate. She acts as though she got caught up in wire at some time and got frighten. I will have to work with her on this in the next few months. I never read my books, as her soundness was never an issue here. It was a good trip and we got to know each other. She is a very sweet trusting mare. More grounded than Ottos.
Prior to my trip with Shonie, Ottos and I went for 7 days ( again with the trail riders) to Barmah Forest in May. This at the border of Victoria and NSW - a river red gum forest. That week we swam across or waded across rivers. Ploughed through reed beds where it was above our heads. Ottos did not like that part...... I was anxious that we did not come across pigs - the brumbies I could cope with ! The distances we covered were great and the scenery so different to anything we had been in before. The fallen logs meant that Ottos really had to concentrate on where each leg was - often for hours at a time. I had under catered for Ottos, who decided to eat me out of home ! Fortunately my spouse was able to get him another bag of chaff and two bales of hay.
Ottos was stopped at the SA border and I was asked for papers (EI) . If I had gotten to the quarantine station ten minutes earlier, we would have had no trouble as it does not open until 9am. We got through.
Hope all is well with your family ..........Love Judith

Dec '08- Hi Maz
Sorry for the huge delay in writing to you but now with two horses my days are so busy.
In October Ottos and I went with the trail riders back into another area of the Flinders for a week.. This time Ottos was so comfortable about being away from home that he also gained weight. I had pulled him out a soft green paddock to then do 6 or so hours on rough stony ground. For the first hour he was not comfortable but then he was fine. Once again, after a week of pounding around and clambering over boulders, his hooves were the best I have ever seen them.
My spouse joined me that weekend, so Ottos had his own personalized carrot feeder( that is as far as Bob will go with a horse). The days were ideal and the nights reasonable.
A week later Ottos on going down to the dam had the bank give way on him ( no one could have anticipated this occurrence) and he fell , severely scrapping his knee on the cement overflow embankment. I found him 24 hrs later shocky and frightened with a ghastly scrapped and badly lacerated knee. The knee was three time its size and swollen up to his elbow. I treated him for shock and cleaned his wounds, all the while Shonnie was supervising. Now 6 weeks later it has healed very well but I believe he will have a bald patch on his knee the size of an egg cup. In spite of his injuries he was only lame for a few days.
As Ottos was out of action Shonnie received all the riding attention. She has gone with me to several workshops on natural horsemanship, along with trail riding both by herself and in a group. She is going well, people keep telling me she will founder but she spends ages galloping around the 30 acre paddock with Ottos in tow. She is a well built lady and she enjoys it. I keep her hooves trim so I am not too concerned.
I was going to ride them both ,but it has decided to pour with rain at last!
Have a Happy Christmas
Love Judith
